A pointer to some background material

Looking through the posts here, I realized that no one has described the overall project, so I’ve tried to repair that omission.

Greetings

This is Bob Tinker, the architect for the Tozier residence to be. This project is being blogged both here and at the Archiopolis site. Bill and Barbara and I held our second design meeting today.

We decided that Atwell Hicks would be contacted to initiate a site survey of the northern portion of the site. The goal of the survey is to create a site plan showing the location of the major trees, the location of the existing access drive from Walsh Road, and the topographic features of the land.

We discussed the second version of the site and space adjacency plan, which is posted below. Site Plan/Adjacency

This will be used as an initial guide for location of the new residence. It will be revisited when the site plan is completed.

A first and second floor plan was generated by Archiopolis based on the space adjacency plan. In general, the floor plans met most of the known requirements for the new home design. No basement plan exists yet. 1sr Floor Plan 2nd Floor Plan

Items that need further consideration on the first floor plan include: space for a freezer, access from bedroom to bath in the parents suite, provision for a future lift for the stair, and kitchen design workability.

Items that need further consideration on the second floor include: how unprogrammed space will be used, connection of 2nd floor spaces to the library, and provision of the viewing cuppola.

The design meeting adjourned to Conner O’neals for lunch where the project was further discussed. Use of the blogs and creation of a potential contractors list were two important items.
