Andre: Ahh, but Tozier's Second Response is: "Here -- you pray, and I'll get on with my life. If you're right, you me and God will all have a quick chuckle in the end, though mine shorter-lived, and followed by an infinitude of grief and regret; if I'm right, you'll be shut up for good, and will have frittered away your life in a senseless task. Ready? Start now!"

Poingantly put.

Never, “Oh, we did that, and it was the best thing…” or “We built a handicapped accessible wing on just a few months back, let me give you our contractor’s number,” or even, “You’re the third family I’ve met this month who’s dealing with that.” Not once.

Here's once. I realize, that at the verge of 21 I'm in a far different place than you, and certainly I nor my family accepted the burden to the level that you have - quite alot because of my grandparents insistance upon maintaining their independence to the greatest possible degree - but I am proud to say that when it was needed of me, I stepped up and moved in with my grandfather when he had his hip replaced last summer so that he wouldn't have to spend months in a masonic home rehabilitation center, and it was one of greatest things that I've done. I got to see how it's a full time job and watch myself start smoking a pack a day. In the end it is what makes offer that while there may not be an inherent difference in goodness between the two, in a given situation such things may not be the case. For my family and perhaps yours, the best choice was to do it together.
