A learning ecology

From Smart Mobs: “Connectivism: Rethinking Learning”, a link to an exceptional analysis of the future of academia. Go watch the whole presentation—especially academic readers. Please.

It’s actually important more if you’re a graduate student now.

When human beings learned to make watches, the universe was likened to a watch (Deists). When human beings learned to make computers, the universe was likened to a computer (Wolfram). When human beings learned to make networks, learning was likened to a network.

It all seems so obvious — but perhaps there’s a value to pointing out and generalizing from the obvious.

Could I use that presentation to get a local university to hire me to teach Wikipedia editing?

These might be interesting ideas, but I’m afraid I don’t speak Internet Revolution Buzzword well enough to evaluate them.
