regarding book pricing (& markets for thinly traded things in general), I recall overhearing a conversation at a local book shop, regarding a title that had come in and sold quickly -

“we didn’t make much money on it, but you can’t argue with the turn”

I suppose if you’re in the business of building inventory, you might have a different perspective on the world than if you were looking to move things in and out rapidly.
